I can't wait to see you in my beloved second home of New Orleans for the AFP International Fundraising Conference!
In this session I will be joined by my amazing colleague and friend, Jermaine Smith. We will share how you can build better relationships with board members and other volunteers, using real-life examples from Jermaine and my experience working together as board member and development staff at the Young Leadership Council in New Orleans. We’ll cover some of the reasons board/staff relationships falter, and some of the barriers each group faces as they try to move their nonprofit forward.
You will come away with tools on how to identify problems and techniques for addressing them, including tools for delineating staff/volunteer roles, setting expectations, and navigating conflict. We’ll also touch on why these relationships are so important. You will leave the session with more confidence in your ability to engage board members in achieving fundraising goals, and have a better understanding of both side’s perspectives and challenges.
